I would suggest 8 inches to a foot would be ideal. Obviously it depends on how large a room you have and how things are going to be mounted. If you need to place them closer than that its not going to be the end of the world, just don’t have them backed right up against the walls.

Thank you very much for the review of the JBL L830 speaker. I especially appreciated the tip about now placing them too close to a wall at the rear of the speaker. However, I would appreciate it if someone would quantify the distance in inches or centimeters.

I did a little research and it looks like this model is not available form Sonys uk resellers. You can go directly to the SONY Style website and buy it from there, but that is a US based site. Luck,

I am interested in the denon microsystem D-M37. However you probably have reviewed other microsystems as well. Is the denon the best out of the batch?

Noise Canceling Headphones are definitely your best bet when traveling overseas. I’ve got a pair which i use all the time. They were expensive, but not as expensive as these. But mine work perfectly well, canceling out the background noise in the office, in the airport and on the plane.
